ENGALYNX  IN  HACKNESS,  NEAR SCARBOROUGH

The members of St. John’s Church, Hackness organised a lunch on Sunday 12th September in aid of the orphans in Rwanda.

The afternoon opened at 12.00 noon and there was a wonderful choice of food from a full cooked meal to snacks.

In addition to the lunch, there was a vegetable stall, a bric-a-brac stall and tombola.  There was a sale of African artefacts brought back from Rwanda by Maralyn Bambridge.  The event was very well attended with the children enjoying face painting.  Everyone there enjoyed the afternoon and raised the magnificent sum of £580.00!  Thank you to everyone who helped.

On a visit last year it was mentioned that Engalynx had kitted out a football team made up of a mixture of street boys and boys living in families.  This team had been entered into a small, local league, now called the Engalynx league, but they did not have a trophy.  The Rev'd. Liz Kitching, Vicar of the Benefice, offered  a silver cup which had been won by a close friend.  The friend has died  and this seemed a fitting way to honor her memory. It was therefore agreed that the trophy should be named The Jan Patterson Trophy after the friend who had died.  This cup was presented at the lunch. See pics.
