Services

Wakefield MDC Contract – WRBA has a contract with WMDC to deliver certain equipment via our Outreach Worker, Stephen Firth.
Symbol canes, White Walking Sticks, Liquid Level Indicators, Tactile Marking and British Wireless for the Blind Fund equipment.
We also administer the RNIB Talking Book Service and our volunteer, Vic Willett, handles all queries regarding Talking Book players.

Wakefield NHS – WRBA has been awarded a grant to develop the work we do making equipment and information more available to visually impaired people. We will be organising regular demonstration days where people can come and try out equipment, get information, order items, meet others and learn about other issues, such as safety.

Social Group – our Social Group meets every Thursday from 12.30pm to 2.30pm at Trinity Methodist Church, Powell Street, Castleford WF10 1EL. The venue is conveniently placed near the Bus Station. Light refreshments are served and there is also a raffle and other group activities. There is a charge of £2.50 per person. All are welcome at the social group and it is a good way to meet other visually impaired people. WRBA staff are always on hand at the group to answer queries or deal with problems.
The Christmas Lunch will be on Thursday 17th December after which the group will close until Thursday 14th January 2010

Parkside Centre – at our Parkside Centre we have a small range of talking clocks and watches which members are welcome to come and look at during office hours, if they are unable to attend our Demo Days.
